About the Tournament
- The first Gothia Cup was held in 1975.
- Approx. 1,700 teams participate annually.
- 80 nations are represented at Gothia Cup.
- 4,500 games are played.
- 110 fields are used.
- Any club team belonging to a FIFA approved nation can participate.
- The tournament starts out with group play consisting of four or five teams.
- Teams advance to “Playoff A” bracket or “Playoff B” bracket depending on group play results.
- Registration typically runs from September-April.
- July 17th is opening round matches and opening ceremonies inside Ullevi Stadium.
- July 22nd is the final day with Championship games and departures.
