Where & When is the 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 2022 FIFA World Cup isn't in the summer like it usually is. When is it?

Every four years the soccer world comes to a stand still in June and July to soak the FIFA World Cup. The governing body of international soccer (FIFA) selects a country to host the worlds most prestigious soccer tournament. Only 32 qualifying nations earn a spot after a rigorous qualifying process that lasts over a year. People from all around the world visit to attend their countries matches. So, where & when is the 2022 FIFA World Cup next year? Hint – It is NOT in June and July in 2022.

Host Country – Qatar

Say what? Where in the world is Qatar? Well, it’s located in the Middle East on the coast of the Persian Gulf. Here’s a map of its location.

Qatar World Cup 2022

To get to Qatar, you’ll fly into Doha which is the capital. There are currently 12 locations in the US that fly directly into Doha. They are Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, and Washington D.C.

When does the tournament start?

As I said at the top, the World Cup is always held in June and July when the sun is shining and kids are out of school. Well, the sun certainly shines in Qatar in the summer…between 95 degrees and 113 degrees Fahrenheit. YIKES,

Switcheroo

FIFA is going to let the summer pass before having the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Instead, the new dates are November 21st – December 18th, 2022 where the temperature hovers between 63 degrees and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. This will allow for much more comfortable playing conditions as we all know soccer is a very demanding sport. Let’s not forget that the fan experience will improve drastically by not constantly sweating.
