Once again, US Soccer is flip flopping age groups. Come on people, go with one and stick with it. Soccer is Going Back to School Year Age Groups.
Please reference the table below for youth player age divisions and corresponding birth-year ranges.
Beginning with the 2026–27 registration season, US Club Soccer, along with US Youth Soccer and AYSO, will shift back to an Aug. 1 – July 31 age group formation, moving away from the Jan. 1 – Dec. 31 model used in recent years.
US Youth Soccer CEO Tom Condone explained the reasoning behind the change (again), emphasizing the organization’s focus on player development. He noted that after extensive collaboration with partners and feedback from its membership, the move to an Aug. 1 age group cycle better aligns with school calendars, supports players’ social and individual needs, and strengthens the overall youth soccer experience for families nationwide.
