The world’s most popular sporting event is a little under 8 months away. When 32 countries punch their ticket to the FIFA World Cup every four years, it’s arguably the hottest ticket on planet earth. Fans from all over will be looking to score themselves some tickets. Let’s get into a step by step guide for buying 2022 FIFA World Cup Tickets.
When & Where is the 2022 FIFA World Cup?
The FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar. This will be the first World Cup the Middle East has hosted. The tournament typically takes place in the summers, but because of the extreme heat FIFA has pushed the tournament to November 21st to December 18th, 2022. Get to know the official match ball.
Three Sales Phases
There are three phases in getting World Cup tickets. The dates below are based on mid-day Doha, Qatar time.
- Phase 1: Jan. 19th – Feb. 8th
- Phase 2: April 5th – April 28th l
- Last Minute Sales Phase
Step 1 – Go to the FIFA Website
There is only one place to get FIFA World Cup tickets and that is at FIFA.com. There are no re-sellers like ticketmaster or stubhub.
Step 2 – Create an Account
You must create an account in order to apply/purchase tickets. This shouldn’t be a surprise as most online purchases require this. Go here to create your account.
Step 3 – Choose your Ticket Path
There are two options on the tickets you request:
- Individual tickets – Go here to apply for up to six tickets per match and 60 tickets total for the tournament.
- Support your team tickets – Go here to apply for tickets to sit in a specific section of the stadium with other fans of your country. *You’ll have to have a code from your teams official supporters group. (i.e for the USA go here)
Step 4 – Select your Category
If you choose option 1, you have four categories of pricing plus an accessibility option.
If you choose option 2, you have three categories of pricing plus an accessibility option.
Submit Application & Wait
Once you complete steps 1-4, you’re ready to submit your request for tickets. You can submit your request for tickets in Phase 2 and the Last Minute Sales Phase. All sales phases are a random draw so cross your fingers. You’ll be notified via email from the FIFA Ticketing Center no earlier than May 31st.
Ticket Delivery Method
All applicants who accept and pay for their tickets will receive mobile tickets. If you are going to multiple games you might get the tickets for each game at different times.
Cancellation Policy
There are no cancellations once you get your tickets. Your only way out is by the FIFA re-sale platform which will be available at a later date closer to the start of the tournament.
US Airports that Fly to Doha
To get to Qatar, you’ll fly into Doha which is the capital. There are currently 12 locations in the US that fly directly into Doha. They are Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, and Washington D.C.

- From Boston – Around $2,300.00 with an 18-24 hour flight itinerary.
- From Chicago – Around $1,600.00-$2,000.00 with a 16-20 hour flight itinerary
- From Dallas Fort Worth – Around $2,500.00 with a 19-24 hour flight itinerary
- From Los Angeles – Around $2,500.00 with an 18-24 hour flight itinerary
